Centurion Trademark Guidelines
Last modified:
Background
[INSERT LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Centurion," "we," "us," or "our") has created and deployed various versions of the Centurion Protocol and develops, distributes, or supports related software, infrastructure, interfaces, and other products. While much of the code associated with Centurion may be available to download, review, and improve under open-source or source-available software licenses, none of those licenses grant a license to use our trademarks. Proper use of our trademarks is essential to help users understand our relationship to particular products or services. When using our trademarks, you must comply with these Centurion Trademark Guidelines. Like other projects, we may enforce our trademark rights to protect users and the ecosystem.
Scope
These guidelines apply to all of our trademarks and service marks, whether registered or unregistered, including, among others:
- Trademarks: CENTURION, CTN, and CENTURION FOUNDATION™ (if applicable) (the "Centurion wordmarks").
- Centurion logos, icons, brand assets, and related visual identifiers.
If you want to report misuse of a Centurion trademark, please contact us at [INSERT LEGAL EMAIL].
Acceptable Uses
You may do the following without receiving specific permission from Centurion:
- Use the Centurion wordmarks in text to truthfully refer to, describe, or link to unmodified Centurion smart contracts, protocols, interfaces, software, products, services, or technologies ("Centurion software").
- Use the Centurion wordmarks to truthfully describe modified versions of Centurion software that you create or make available. For example, you may say "This software is derived from Centurion software" or "This service uses software derived from Centurion software."
- Use the Centurion wordmarks in software, tools, wallets, explorers, validators, applications, or aggregators that integrate with Centurion software to truthfully refer to, and where possible link to, the applicable Centurion software or network.
- Use the Centurion wordmarks to clearly signal to users that there is no affiliation with or endorsement by Centurion where your software, interface, or service merely integrates with or supports Centurion software.
- Follow the terms of the applicable software licenses for Centurion software.
Implementation of Acceptable Uses
- You must include a trademark attribution notice at the first or most prominent mention of a Centurion wordmark on a webpage, in a document, or in documentation, such as: "[Centurion trademark] is a trademark of [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY NAME]."
- You must always use the Centurion wordmarks in their exact form and with correct spelling, and not abbreviate, hyphenate, alter, or combine them with other words except as expressly allowed by these guidelines.
- You must use the Centurion wordmarks only as adjectives, not as nouns or verbs, and not in plural or possessive forms.
- You should use the generic term for the relevant Centurion product or service immediately after the trademark where appropriate.
- For example: Centurion protocol, Centurion network, Centurion interface, Centurion validator software.
All other uses of Centurion trademarks require our prior written permission. Contact us at [INSERT LEGAL EMAIL] for permission requests or more information.
Unacceptable Uses
Some uses of our trademarks are not acceptable.
- Do not use our trademarks in anything dishonest, fraudulent, deceptive, unlawful, or misleading.
- Our name is not your name. Do not use Centurion trademarks in the name of your smart contract, validator product, interface, business, product, service, app, domain name, username, publication, community, or other offering.
- Do not use our name for your products. Do not apply Centurion trademarks to your own product unless the use is limited to a truthful and descriptive reference.
- Do not emphasize our marks more prominently than your own company, product, or service name.
- Do not use or imitate our distinctive website design, logos, icons, brand presentation, designs, or typefaces.
- Do not create or use confusingly similar trademarks, names, slogans, domain names, or designs.
- Do not imply any affiliation with, connection to, or association with Centurion or [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY NAME].
- Do not imply sponsorship, approval, certification, or endorsement by Centurion of your activities, products, or services.
- Do not create, sell, or distribute merchandise using our trademarks without prior written permission.
- Do not modify our marks, abbreviate them, combine them with symbols, words, or images, or incorporate them into a tagline, slogan, token name, product name, or branding.
- Do not use Centurion logos or other visual brand assets without prior written permission.
Others' Trademarks
A note on others' trademarks: Centurion may operate or support one or more interfaces, tools, websites, services, or infrastructure components related to the Centurion Protocol or broader ecosystem, but third parties may also independently build on or interact with the protocol or network. Without our involvement, third parties may create or deploy assets, applications, tokens, names, or content that implicate the trademarks or other rights of others. Centurion may not be able to prevent all such actions at the protocol or network level. However, if we become aware of trademark misuse allegations relating to interfaces, hosted services, or other controlled properties, we may review the allegations and take action where appropriate, including limiting or removing content from Centurion-controlled properties.
